FAQ

What type of music do you play?

I have a CD collection with over 30,000 tracks, and can cater for events requiring 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Noughties, Chart, House, Funky House, Club Classics, Reggae, Commercial R&B, 80's Soul, Disco, Hed Kandi.

I do not specialise in Hip-Hop, Bashment, Drum & Bass, Non commercial R&B, Indie, Techno, Punk, Hard Rock or Heavy Metal. If this is all that you require for your event, then I am not the DJ for you.

What type of nights do you DJ?

Over the years I have been a professional DJ at almost every type of venue and party night, Birthday parties 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, Anniversary’s 25th, 50th, Weddings, Engagements, Corporate Parties, Office Parties, Christmas Parties, New Years Eve Parties, Pubs and Clubs, Over 30's Nights, events from 40 guests upwards. No event is too big.

How Much do you charge?

Anyone can set-up as a mobile disco operator, buy some kit from the high street, download a load of songs from the internet and set up a web site then call themselves a DJ. They can cost from as little as £120 a night! However, finding a good DJ is a whole different ball game.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. I'm not the cheapest DJ on the market, what you are paying for is an Experienced Professional DJ with Professional grade equipment. Every function or event is different depending on your requirements. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. Any professional DJ would require a deposit before confirming your booking in writing. Once I have confirmed your booking, I do not double book. Be careful about any DJ that does not require a deposit, they might say you have a booking, take another booking that pays more money, and not turn up at your event, your Wedding day or Birthday party will be ruined forever.

What equipment do you use?

I use Professional grade equipment that is annually PAT tested to ensure it is safe. (Current certificates are available for your venue on request as most will not allow a DJ to perform without them). I still use CD's as I feel these offer better quality than a laptop playing MP3s. My equipment provides quality sound, with sub-woofers providing that extra clarity. I can provide a Low Level smoke machine see my extras for details ( please check with your venue ) Recent photos of my equipment can be viewed on my photo gallery.

Do you use the microphone?

YES, I have a clear manner and I am not shy on the microphone, though as any good DJ will know, one needs to get a fine balance of just the right amount of DJ vocals.

Many DJs today simply do not use the microphone to build an atmosphere, at the other end of the spectrum, some DJs don't know when to stop using the microphone ruining peoples enjoyment of the music, this is never a problem for me.

Do you professionally mix music?

YES. I started DJing back in the days of vinyl and currently use CDs. With today's modern Digital DJ equipment, there is very little skill required in the mixing of music as most laptop computers do this at a press of a button. Many of today's DJs have never worked with vinyl, using their laptop they just fade from one track to the next.

Do you have PLI (Public Liability Insurance)?

The answer to this one is YES. I have £10m PLI cover. Nearly all venues require that the DJ has PLI, my current certificates are available on request. Please check with any DJ that you book that they have current PLI as the venue can stop them from performing at your event and ruin your day.

What about Health & Safety?

All of my equipment is PAT tested annually to ensure it is safe to use. While on-site at your venue all my work is carried out according to my Health and Safety Method Statement.

Can I come and see you perform ?

Unfortunately this isn't usually possible. As most of my work is Weddings and Birthday parties it would not be appropriate for me to invite you along. Also no two parties are the same, the music you would hear me playing at one party may be different to what you would like played.

I do play in pubs and Over 30's nights, and the music played may not reflect what you want to hear at your party.

Do you have any videos ?

I am often asked if I have any videos on Youtube or Facebook, unfortunately the answer is no.

Unlike a lot of DJ's I respect the privacy of my client and their guests so I do not put any videos on social media. There is also the issue of getting written permission from everyone at the party to publicly broadcast video of a private event.
